My journey

Having qualified in 2001 I set out to make a difference to people. Having had two road crashes at the age of 17 and had various injuries and stress along the way myself, I did something about it. I returned to the Northern Insitute of Massage on 2015 and did the advanced course and met some magical people including one extremely highly placed man in the osteopathic and physiotherapy world and also a Japanese therapist who simply made my work click and what was a job became an absolute love of what I do. I gained further confidence and understanding which along with my ability to sense and feel things, took me to a new dimension in my life and treatments. I feel equipped to understand pain emotion and how our bodies work to maintain and recover and how big being able to relax our bodies is, be it physically, mentally and indeed both. The course in 2015 complimented my initial Remedial Massage course at the Northern Institute of Massage in Bury. I have worked tirelessly over the last 23 years and will continue to offer my clients the best of my knowledge and care, to offer you your own plan of treatment to obtain the best results. I'm highly approachable and above all else I keep in mind what was said to me by the Principle at "The Northern" Eddie Caldwell, "Don't cause any pain". Those four words are fixed in my mind when it comes to clients. You can't be in peace if you are in a fight.

Remedial Massage

Remedial massage is a form of therapeutic massage that focuses on treating physical ailments caused by tension and poor posture. It uses various techniques, including kneading, deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy and stretching, to help alleviate pain and discomfort, improve mobility, reduce inflammation, and reduce stress. It can also help improve circulation and reduce muscle fatigue. This type of massage is often used to treat sports injuries, chronic pain, and joint stiffness. It is tailored to each individual's needs and can be used to treat a wide range of conditions. I have gained a wealth of experience through courses, personal circumstances and the people I've met along the way. Massage combined with tools I have such as spinal mobilisations, understanding and compassion of my clients needs are necessary to place me in the position to help.

Benefits

Remedial massage has many benefits, including: improved circulation, improved flexibility and range of motion, reduced pain, improved posture, improved sleep, reduced stress, improved immunity, improved lymphatic drainage, increased mental clarity, improved joint mobility, and improved recovery from injury or illness. Additionally, it can also reduce muscle tension and spasms, reduce inflammation, improve muscle tone, and reduce scar tissue. I am also trained and educated to assess and treat through mobility which greatly enhances my work and my clients physical health.

New Course

I have just started an in depth course in Shiatsu which will help immensely with the work I currently do. I have been well aware of Ki in the body since I started working as a Massage Practitioner 23 years ago and I am very thrilled and motivated to commit to such an extensive course, under brilliant teachings, in the most amazing of East Asian based therapy ,to offer myself insight and further education which will benefit myself family and clients. So looking forward to what the course brings to me over the next 2 to 3 years.

Contra Indicators for having Massage

While most people are fine to have massage, there are some who for medical reasons may not benefit and safety is paramount to me when it comes to my clients. From heart issues to infections, recent trauma to fractures, illnesses etc there are simply times when being under the guidance of a GP or medical professional are all that can be offered and Massage may not be advised. If you have an underlying condition or are immobile and or in real pain I will always recommend you ask your GP about the suitability of massage. I will ask you to fill in and return a medical consent form before treatment is offered as I won't take a risk with your health.
